Fields and woodlands border country roads which wind through this charming township set amidst the rolling Morris County hills. Horse farms and bridle paths, foxhunts and sprawling country estates characterize Harding. At its center is New Vernon, the tiny village center with only a few commercial establishments, a bank, a post office and an historic Presbyterian Church.

Harding includes most of the area known as the Great Swamp, portions of two Morris County parks, a year round lake community, and another lake where the 3,300 residents can ice skate. It is hard to believe that such a beautiful rural area is just moments away from the culture of Morristown and shopping in Morristown, Bernardsville and Basking Ridge, Madison and Chatham and the Mall at Short Hills.

Routes 202 and Interstate 287 connect Harding to all points within the metropolitan area. Commuter service is available in Morristown or Madison, and Morristown airport located nearby provides helicopter and limousine service to all metropolitan hubs and metro airports.

Harding Township School includes kindergarten through grade eight. Students go on to Madison High School or any of a number of private schools located in the area – Bayley Ellard, Pingry, Morristown Beard or Newark Academy.
