Bedminster
Rich farmland and bountiful forests attracted settlers to
this area. Today the natural beauty remains an attraction. The mood is rural and only a
little more than 7,000 residents live in the 26.5 square miles comprising the villages of
Pluckemin and Bedminster.
Bedminster is horse country and the township is known for its
equestrian activities. About 200 acres afford a setting for a variety of outdoor pastimes
such as horseback riding, fishing, hunting, running, and hot air ballooning.
Sprawling farms and beautiful estates are built on the
country roads which are incidentally delightful for a Sunday drive or an enjoyable bike
ride. Modest ranches and spacious colonials characterize established neighborhoods. New
construction includes simple duplex style homes and large colonials. The Hills, a large
townhouse development set into a hillside, affords condominium and townhouse living and
single family dwellings.
Bedminster includes an eye-appealing town center with a
variety of shops and eateries. The quaint village of Pluckemin borders the upscale
shopping area.
The township maintains its own public elementary school
system. Secondary school age students attend Bernards High School. There are also a number
of private schools in the vicinity.
Bedminster, a green haven in a busy state, keeps one close
enough to the action while providing a serene homestead to return to each night.
